Lady smuggles snake into PDP rally

Lady_smuggles_snake_Into_PDP_RallyAn attempt by a woman to smuggle snake into the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium-venue of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign rally in Benin on Saturday was foiled by vigilant policemen at the gate of the stadium.

Vice President Namadi Sambo, national and state leaders of and several thousands of PDP supporters had converged on the stadium to officially kick-start the election campaign of the party's candidate in the July 14 governorship election in the state, Gen. Charles Airhiavbere (retd.)

But the timely interception at the main gate of the stadium by policemen at the gate of the stadium averted what could have created a chaotic atmosphere, had the woman sneaked into the stadium with her deadly package undetected.

The snake woman, adorned in purple top and blue pair of trousers, in company of three young men, attracted the curiosity of the mobile policemen screening those going into the stadium when she attempted to jump the long queue.

Upon interrogation, the snake,a cobra measuring about one metre was discovered in a white round transparent plastic container with perforated lid in the hand of the woman who spoke in Pidgin English and Hausa languages.

The security agents however saved the woman from the wrath of the angry crowd who attempted to mob her.

She was however ordered to leave the vicinity of the stadium while still clutching her snake in her hand.

When PMNEWS attempted to take the photograph of the snake and speak with the woman and her companions, she angrily threatened to open and release the reptile if she was not left alone.

ON A LIGHTER NOTE.............ADULT HUMOR

A man went to a pet shop and bought a talking parrot. He took the parrot home, and tried to teach the parrot how to say a few things, but instead the parrot just swore at him. After a few hours of trying to teach the bird finally the man said "If you don't stop swearing I'm going to put you in the freezer as punishment." The parrot continued, so finally the man put the bird in the freezer.
About an hour later the parrot asked the man to please open the door. As the man took the shivering bird out of the freezer he asked the bird if it had learned its lesson. The parrot said "I sure did.  By the way, what the fuck did that turkey do?"

This cowboy is taking a herd of horses to market. After dropping them off he is very hungry and decided to stop and eat. The town is very small and there is only one diner. He walks in and finds only one seat is left. It is next to a nice looking, obviously wealthy young lady. The cowboy sits down in the seat next to her.
The waiter comes by and asks the woman if she was ready to order.
She replied: "Yes, I would like the breast of fowl. Virgin fowl. Make sure the bird is a virgin. In fact why don't you catch the bird yourself for me. I would like new potatoes, and garnish my plate with parsley. And I would like a cup of coffee, not to hot or not to cold, and if there is any foam on the coffee please scoop it off for me. And while you're at it, please open a window! I smell horse, there must be a cowboy in here.

Well, the cowboy was sitting right next to her, and he was very offended at that comment.

Shortly the waiter came back with the woman's coffee and asked the cowboy if he was ready to order.

He said "Yes, I would like the duck. Fucked duck. Fuck the bird yourself. Garnish my plate with horse shit and bring me a cup of coffee hotter that Texas mule piss and blow the foam off with a fart. And while you're up, knock out a wall. I smell cunt, there must be a whore in here.

He looks around at the crowd and says, "Does anyone else want to try?" An old lady raises her hand and says..."Sure, but don't hit me with that stick."

SCANDAL: MBGN In Deep Mess As Ayuk Isabella Rejected By Miss World Organisers**She Isn't Going For Personal Reasons--Silverbird

Just when Isabella Ayuk won the 2012 Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) beauty pageant, controversies arose about her true age.
Some alleged that Isabella was over aged and not 26 she claimed to be. Now, an e-mail leaked to  Hotnaijagossip.comwhich seems to expose the whole issue.
In a phone conversation with a Silverbird representative
, Mr Alozie, he told Hotnaijagossip.com that Isabella is still the winner of MBGN and as such, still weras the crown.

He said that Isabella would only not be at the Miss World contest holding in China in August 2012.

Asked to comment on the purported leaked statement from Gay Bruce on the issue, he claimed an impostor may have written it.

Commenting on why Isabella would not be representing Nigeria at the Miss World Beauty pageant, Alozie said Isabella would not be going to the pageant due to her personal reasons.

On what the personal reasons are, he said Isabella's programme for the year would not rhyme with when the pageant would hold in August. He claimed that Isabella would only be free to attend the Miss Universe contest later in the year, which she would now represent Nigeria in.

Below is a copy of the leaked e-mail;

"No doubt corruption is now a way of life in Nigeria and as such you find corrupt practice in anything we do in Nigeria.

"Few months, when I raised the alarm that Isabella Ayuk, the lady who won the crown of the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) is more than 26years which she claims she is, many felt I was Blackmailing her!

"I knew this because her younger sister who was my classmate in secondary school is now 27years old.

"Today the truth has been told which the organisers of the MBGN, the Bruce family knew even before she contested!

"But instead, favoured her to be the winner because Isabella is dating Hon Emeka Ihedioha, the Deputy Speaker House of Representatives Abuja and she also warms the bed of a big time businessman Henry Imasekha, a very close friend of James Ibori.

"Today she has been disqualified from contesting in the Miss World Pageant due to age factor which she lied about and as such the first Runner up Diamete Charles will now represent Nigeria.

"My question is what Kind of country do we live in? Even in the pageant industry there's corruption!.

"The Bruce family have now disgraced themselves and Nigeria before the entire world."

Below is the purported statement from Silverbird, which has been denied;

"MBGN REPRESENTION, SILVERBIRD CLEARS THE AIR

"The management of Silverbird, organisers of the annual Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria and Africa's longest running beauty pageant will be sending MBGN First Runner up, Miss DIAMETTE CHARLES GRANVILLE, to represent the country at the Miss World pageant holding in Mongolia, China in August.

"MBGN winner, Miss ISABELLA AGBO AYUK will represent Nigeria at the Miss Universe. MBGN Second Runner up, Miss IFEOMA UMEOKEKE will be at the Miss Tourism International holding later in the year in China

"As we celebrate our 25th anniversary in the world of beauty pageantry, it is our wish not to only raise the bar but replicate the groundbreaking records achieved by Agbani Darego as the first Black Africa's Miss World 2001 as well as some past queens who have achieved remarkable results at some renowned international pageants in the recent past.

"While we seek your understanding, we also urge you to pray for their victory at the various global beauty pageants where they will be flying the country's flag.

Signed

GUY MURRAY BRUCE
Group Vice President, Silverbird"

But with the response of Silverbird, what personal programme of Isabella would stop her from achieving her goal of being Miss World or at least attending the pageant?

Are there things we don't know about? Time will surely unfold them.

Don Jazzy, according to the information at our disposal, is rumoured having a secret affair with Tiwa Savage.

Though, Don Jazzy has said to have been monitoring her success right from the day she returned back to the country, however, people in the know said that there is more to their closeness than meet the eyes.
"Boss has been at different places with Tiwa even at odd hours. Infact, whenever the two are together, we dare not move closer to disrupt them.

I am sure, there is more to this than a mere business relationship," one of the guys who work with Marvin Records disclosed to Nigeriafilms.com.

Tiwa Savage came into the Nigeria music industry with her hit track, Kele Kele Love. She later released another hit single titled Love Me Love Me.

P Square's Sex Experience Revealed

Not many people would come out to reveal their s*x experience but for this sensational singing duo, it's a different case indeed as they recently revealed their early involvement with s*x.

They claimed to first know what s*x was at 14 and 15-years respectively. As for Peter, “I had my first experience in 1993 at the age of 14. At first, I felt terrible that I let a woman seduce me. Later, I realised that it didn’t matter and I enjoyed it.”

Paul had this to say, “for me, it was 1994 and I was 15 at the time. The first time was kind of strange. I thought the poor girl would get pregnant immediately and I’d become a father.

"As the thought of what we had done raced through my head, I became afraid, but felt better when I realised I had used a condom.”

www.hotnaijagossip.com is not advising children and young ones who look up to them to emulate this act of their early involvement with s*x.

That they are about the richest artistes in the country today is no news as they boast of owning the best properties amongst their peers and recently it was rumoured that they have bought a private jet.

This duo, Peter and Paul have been consistent since breaking into the Nigerian music scene and have won several awards to back up their claim as number one.

BBA Update: Goldie and Prezzo belittled, as Goldie begs Keitta

BBA_Update_Goldie_and_Prezzo_belittled_as_Goldie_begs_KeittaUpville will soon be dominated by downville, with three housemates already in the house, Prezzo and Goldie might have no friends in upville any more. The newly upgraded downvillers sat in the garden and in company of Barbz and Lady May, the five talked ill of Prezzo and Goldie.

This small meeting was chaired by Keitta who began by accusing Goldie and boy friend of being pretenders.

He said Goldie boils up by the slightest word he utters. Keitta said that he tried to complement Goldie's video but the Nigerian singer took his complement for an insult and fumed.

Other housemate came in to belittle the two and mock their relationship, Keagan said he doesn't give a damn to anyone. He went on to say that he has nothing to lose because he came with nothing
and if his to leave with nothing or with something it's all good.

The five were talking in the garden while Prezzo and girl friend were in the bedroom sleeping. Keitta went on to say that the fear of rejection was one of the reasons why Prezzo went apologising to Barbz in the night.

On the contrary Prezzo did say today, he's not bothered by the number of Downvillers, as the house belongs to all of them and after all he has his Goldie by his side.

Goldie begs keitta...

It takes guts to confide in someone you've betrayed and Goldie does it best.

For someone who put Keitta up for possible Eviction, it was strange to hear Goldie begging Keitta to take care of her man Prezzo following Roki's disqualification.
Keitta in turn sang Goldie's praises; "You're a very cool person. You only talk sense, I like that about you. You're very smart," Keitta told the blushing Goldie.

As Head of House, Goldie was put on the spot on Monday night when Barbz, Maneta and Prezzo were nominated. By the powers vested in her, she swapped her man and replaced him with Keitta.

Senate orders arrest of Pension Reform task team officials

The Nigerian Senate has ordered the arrest of the Pension Reform Task Team officials for alleged fraud, embezzlement and misappropriation of funds.

The arrest warrant covers the Chairman of the Task Team, Mr. Abdulrasheed Maina and two other members, Mr. John Yusuf and Mr. B.G. Kaigama.

Other charges levelled against the Pension Reform Task Team by the Nigerian Senate are illegal virement, contract splitting, award of contracts to non-existing companies, award of contracts without appropriation and outright stealing of pension funds.

The arrest order comes on the back of recommendations from the House of Assembly's Joint Committee on Pension Administration.

Other recommendations include the recovery of N 15.38 billion being differentials between the claims of payment of pensions by the task team and the actual expenditure it made.

Senate President, David Mark gave the order for arrest as the Joint Committee reported that Maina refused to appear before it to defend himself of charges of corruption and mismanagement of pension funds at the Customs, Immigration and Prisons pension office.

The Joint Committee in its report also brought attention to the entrenched culture of corruption and fraud at the pension department of the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.

Vice Chairman of the commitee, Senator Kabiru Gaya said, "Within six years, the office of the Head of the Civil Service received a total of N216bn as pension. It only spent N154bn, leaving a balance of N58.7bn.

"We made efforts to get records of the balance of N58.7bn throughout the period of the investigation but we did not get any."

Third Mainland Bridge to be closed from 1st July.....

According to Daily Times' update on Twitter, "There will be partial closure of 3rd Mainland Bridge, from 1st July till November 6 2012, for repair work."

The Third Mainland Bridge is the longest of three bridges connecting Lagos Island, Lagos, Nigeria to the mainland, the other two being the Eko and Carter bridges. It is the longest bridge in Africa. The bridge starts from Oworonshoki which is linked to the Apapa-Oshodi express way and Lagos-Ibadan express way, and ends at the Adeniji Adele Interchange on Lagos Island.

There is also a link midway through the bridge that leads to the Herbert Macaulay Way, Yaba. The bridge was built by Julius Berger Nigeria PLC and opened by President Ibrahim Babangida in 1990; it measures about 11.8km in length.

However, there were reports that the Third Mainland Bridge was vibrating, indicating that it needed urgent attention. Remedial work was commenced on the failed portions of the bridge and has been completed.

Recently, there have been rumours of cracks on the bridge. This however has been denied by authorities.

However, it seems they are ready to rectify the situation by closing the bridge for about six months.

Na wa oooo!!!!! how long does it take to re-enforce the pillars or piles?besides na during rainy season dem see to do repair for bridge.....O ma Shee OOOOOO

For standing up for God & Country IPAIDABRIBENAIJA.COM nominates Femi Otedola as our hero whistle blower

The emergence of Mr. Femi Otedola as a leading light and advocate of the concerted fight against instituitionalised corruption and corruptive influences.

In a clime where supposed men of honour and unassailable pedigree stand truth on its head for survival's sake, the emergence of an oasis of due diligence, accountablility, corporate best practices, and truth calls for cheer and celebration. Where others fear to tread and chicken out because of threats and blackmail of social, political and economic intimidation, a lone star has emerged in the hazy horizon to champion the true ethics of the moral re-birth and anti-corruption that has eluded all facets of the nation's existence since independence in 1960.

We congratulate Mr Femi Otedola on this nomination as a hero shining star and fervently believe that Mr Femi Otedola has led the way in creating whistle blowing culture in our Fatherland Nigeria.

I gave Farouk Lawan $620,000 bribe as a sting operation

The full details of the $3 million bribery scandal involving members of the House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee on the Fuel Subsidy probe were revealed yesterday, as one of the major actors in the scandal has opened up on what transpired.

In an exclusive interview with THISDAY, chairman, Zenon Petroleum & Gas Ltd, Mr. Femi Otedola, who hitherto was suspected of being behind the $3 million bribery scandal, blew the lid on what transpired and how chairman of the ad-hoc committee, Hon. Farouk Lawan, and the secretary of the committee, Mr. Boniface Emenalo, had collected $620,000 from him in a sting operation masterminded by the security agencies.

The amount was part payment for the $3 million, which he alleged Lawan had demanded from him to exonerate Zenon Oil from the ad-hoc committee's report.

As the scandal unfolds, it was learnt that operatives of the State Security Services have sent a video recording of the incident to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for further scrutiny and action.

Otedola, who was opening up on the issue for the first time, narrated how Lawan at the outset of the probe had approached him to get some insight into the workings of the downstream oil and gas sector.

Otedola said he obliged him and ensured that his managing directors of Forte Oil Plc and Zenon Oil appeared at the subsidy probe during its public hearing after both companies had been invited by the committee.

During the probe, he said the committee was informed in no uncertain terms that Zenon does not and has never made claims for subsidy payments from the federal government, as the company was engaged solely in the importation of diesel, a product that is not subsidised.

Zenon's managing director, Mr. Kanmi Kareem Otaru, during the probe had denied that the company had anything to do with the subsidy regime. He told the committee, "For the avoidance of doubt Zenon never participated or benefited from the subsidy scheme or Petroleum Support Fund (PSF)."

According to him, going by the Act which established the PSF scheme, "Zenon couldn't participate in it because we don't have a network of PMS retail outlets which was one of the key criteria beneficiaries must meet and as such we are not qualified to participate to draw from subsidy payments on PMS. So we never collected as records will show."

Irrespective of the clarification made at the hearing, Otedola said Lawan still approached him a few days before the report was to be tabled on April 18, 2012 before the House of Representatives, demanding money so that Zenon's name will be kept out of the report.

"When this happened, I was very angry and reminded him that Zenon has never participated in the subsidy scheme and that it would be criminal to rope in the company for something it did not do.

"But Lawan responded, stating that several other marketers were playing ball and had offered the members of the committee large sums of money to ensure that their companies' names were not published in the report," he added.

Otedola, said initially he balked at Lawan's attempt to extort money from him and told the legislator that he would not pay up, as Zenon had not committed any crime.

"Then a day before the report was to be submitted, Lawan called again, informing me that Zenon's name had been included in the report.

"I, of course, was very angry and asked him to desist from his course of action, but Lawan insisted that I must pay up as other oil marketers had done before me."

Otedola said he could not believe his eyes the next day when the report came out and Zenon's name had been listed under the category of companies that had bought foreign exchange from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) but had not imported petrol.

The amount ascribed to Zenon in the report was $232,975,385.13. The report had recommended that Zenon and 14 other marketers that had bought the foreign exchange be referred to the anti-corruption agencies to determine what they used the monies for.

Otedola said at this point he again called Lawan demanding that Zenon's name be removed from the list, as there was no way his company could have bought that volume of foreign exchange without importing products.

"I reminded him that the amount ascribed to Zenon was wrong as what the company bought was over $400 million for importation of products through the banks – Zenith, UBA and GTB – and that under Sanusi (CBN governor) there was no way anyone could have bought that quantity of foreign exchange and not imported the products having filled the Form M.

"Sanusi will simply clamp down on anyone who tries to pull that kind of stunt," he said.

In spite of this, Otedola said Lawan still demanded that the members of the committee be given money in exchange for removing Zenon's name from the report before it is considered in plenary by the entire House.

Otedola said he then asked how much would be required to make the committee happy, to which Lawan responded $3 million.

"I screamed at him, demanding to know why he was doing this to me. All he said was other marketers were paying up to keep their names out of the report so I should do likewise," he said.
Otedola revealed that it was this point he decided to involve the security agencies to catch Lawan and his committee with their hands in the till.

According to him, "As a law-abiding citizen, I decided to involve the security agencies and they advised me to play along, which prompted me to offer to pay part of the money with the promise that I would pay the balance when my company's name had been removed from the report."

The security agencies, he disclosed, gave him serialised dollar bills for the sting job and there are call logs, video and audio recordings in the possession of the agencies to confirm all that had transpired between himself and Lawan.

He said on April 21, the Saturday before the plenary, Lawan came in person to his residence and collected $250,000 in cash, as the first instalment, "then the next Monday night he came and collected another $250,000.

"On Tuesday, at 9am, just before the House commenced seating, Boniface came and collected another $120,000."

Otedola confirmed that during the sting, Lawan and Boniface collected a total of $620,000 in three instalments as part of the $3 million demanded from him.

He added that with the $620,000 that had been extorted by Lawan and the committee, during the plenary, Zenon's name was removed from the list of companies that had bought foreign exchange but did not import products.

Otedola continued: "He (Lawan) now asked for the balance of $2.5 million, but when I told him that I had no money now that the money was in Lagos, he suggested that I should charter a plane to fly the money from Lagos to Abuja."

Otedola stressed that his decision to get the law enforcement and security agencies involved stemmed from the fact that he had not broken any law, maintaining that as a law-abiding citizen, he was saddened by the fact that he was being blackmailed by of all people, members of the legislature.

"If you have information that an armed robber is come to raid your home, won't you notify the police? So, that was the purpose of the sting operation.
"Besides, my integrity is paramount to me. I started selling petroleum products 14 years ago in drums and somebody who has never run a petrol station is trying to blackmail and extort money from me.
"If others (marketers) have paid money, maybe they are guilty. But I did not do anything wrong, so why should they extort money from me? As a law-abiding citizen, I had to involve the security agencies. Indeed, I'm very disappointed because I have worked hard to build my business."

Insisting that he had nothing to hide or fear over what had happened, Otedola maintained if he was in the wrong he would not have involved the security agencies in the first instance.

In a reference to the strong denials made by Lawan since the scandal became public, Otedola stated, "When he (Lawan) demanded the bribe, I called the agencies. That is because I had nothing to hide. When the bribe was paid, why did he not call and report it to the agencies if he had nothing to."

Meanwhile, THISDAY gathered that the videotape of the illicit transaction had been sent to the EFCC to investigate the incident.

FAROUK LAWAN: I’m Not in Custody of $620,000, Lawmaker Writes Tambuwal

FaroukThe mystery over the whereabouts of the $620,000 bribe suspended Chairman, Ad-Hoc Committee on the Monitoring Subsidy Regime, Hon. Farouk Lawan, collected from oil magnate, Mr. Femi Otedola, to clear his company of alleged fraud deepened yesterday as the person the embattled lawmakers claimed he gave it to denied receiving it.

Lawan had claimed in a statement shortly after the scandal broke that he wrote the Chairman, House Committee on Drugs Narcotics and Financial Crimes, Hon Jagaba Adams Jagaba, informing him of attempts to bribe him and he attached the money to the letter.

Jagaba, who had last week exclusively told THISDAY that neither him nor any member of his committee was aware of the letter Lawan, said he wrote, in a letter dated June 19, addressed to the House Speaker, Hon. Aminu Tambuwal, formally denied knowledge of the letter and denied being in possession of the $620,000 bribe that was said to be in his custody.

The letter, which was titled "Re: Investigation Activities: Request for Handing Over of Exhibits in Connection with a Case of Criminal Conspiracy Taking Gratification to Pervert the Course of Justice read: "I wish to categorically and unequivocally state that there was never a time I was in possession of the sum of $620,000 or any other exhibits (in my personal capacity or official capacity as Chairman of the House Committee on Drugs, Narcotics and Financial Crimes) relating to the subject matter of the above investigation.

"I hope this explanation lays to rest once and for all the claims that I or my committee is in possession of the sum of $620,000 purportedly given as bribe to the Ad-hoc Committee on the Monitoring of Fuel Subsidy Regime."

Jagaba's letter was in response to another letter from Tambuwal directing him to react to the claim by Lawan that he (Jagaba) was in possession of the exhibit.
Tambuwal's letter which was dated June 18, and signed by his Special Adviser on Legal and Legislative Matters, Hon. Chille Igbawa, was a response to a letter from the acting Inspector General of Police, Mr Mohammed Abubakar, asking for the reaction of the speaker to the bribery scam.

Abubakar's letter, signed on his behalf by Mr Ali Amodu, a Commissioner of Police in charge of the Special Task Force on Subsidy Bribe Investigation, had requested Tambuwal to supply information on the $620,000 exhibit as well as any other material evidence that may be of use to the ongoing police investigation.

Meanwhile, Lawan neither attended the plenary sitting of the House yesterday nor was he at the Force Headquarters.

He had told the police on Monday that he would not be able to report at the Force Headquarters yesterday because he would be attending the sitting of the House to enable him to retrieve the $620,000 bribe so as to hand it over to the police.

But sources said the lawmaker was at home yesterday consulting with him lawyers and receiving visitors, adding that the police were not expecting him yesterday, otherwise he would have been there.

However, he is expected to report at the Force Headquarters today

Mr Jimoh Ibrahim, the company’s Chairman, Mr Kinfe Kahssaye, Managing Director and Air Nigeria Development Company Limited (formerly Virgin Nigeria Airways Ltd), were joined in the 10-count charge.

The suit comes barely 48 hours after the service arrested Kahssaye in Lagos on Monday.

An official of FIRS, who confirmed his release to NAN, said the service met with Ibrahim on Tuesday, but did not reach any agreement on the payment of the tax.

In the charge, FIRS accused officials of the indigenous airline of illegally obtaining Tax Clearance Certificates.

They were also said to have unlawfully presented the fake certificate to the Minister of Interior for the renewal of expatriate quota positions for 20 pilots and 10 other persons.

According to the FIRS, the accused persons failed to deduct and pay taxes accruing to government from Withholding Tax and Value Added Tax (VAT) from 2007 to 2010, totaling N4.86 billion.

Boko Haram: Stop attacks on Churches – Ex-militants Warns

Boko Haram: Stop attacks on Churches – Ex-militants Warns Over 40 ex-militant 'generals' from the Niger-Delta region, rose from an emergency meeting in Abuja with a call to the Federal Government to halt bombing of churches immediately and also asked President Goodluck Jonathan to identify sponsors of the sect and bring them to book, as the violence had become unacceptable.

In a statement, on Thursday, they said: "Boko Haram must immediately stop its senseless, mindless killings and suicide bombings in the North. The predilection for selective attacks on churches and Christians can no longer be tolerated by well-meaning Nigerians.

"The Federal Government must forcefully stop this strange and dangerously ominous trend in our polity. We recall how the Nigerian government deployed armed troops in the Niger Delta, which
decimated Odi, Ayakoromo, Gbaramatu Kingdom and other communities in its alleged bid to combat militancy. It is, however, strange to note that the government has treated the Boko Haram insurgency with kid gloves.

"Enough is enough! The government must unmask and go after the sponsors of Boko Haram, which we believe are wicked and evil-minded Nigerians collaborating with foreigners."

The former militants said the violence in the North had become worrisome and could lead to reprisal attacks in the South.

They said Boko Haram was not only anti-Christians but also political, with a view to destabilising the present administration.

Some of the ex-militants leaders who signed the statement are: Gen. Busty Alemfuke, Gen. Iyela Island, Gen. Orumey Okuheuna, Gen. Blaza Abi, Gen. Adekunle Wisdom, Gen. Ameachi Adibbuo, Gen. Chibuzo Egbelu, Gen. Callos Ben, Gen. Okubo Robert and Gen. Egbema One.
Others are: Gen. Fred Kenyebo, Gen Aboy, Gen Nico Sintei, Gen. Solo Osama, Gen. Solo Adabafa, Gen. Gawe Eberepapa and Gen. J.P. Greenland.

NCAA suspends Air Nigeria over alleged financial distress

NCAA suspends Air Nigeria over alleged financial distressThe Federal Government, on Thursday, wielded the big stick by suspending the operations of Air Nigeria, over allegations that the airline is in financial distress.
The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) carried out the suspension, after investigations carried out showed that the carrier was in financial crisis.

The development came even as the airline management, through its spokesman, Sam Ogbo-goro, confirmed the suspension of the airline and apologised for all the inconvenience that the order would bring on passengers, while promising that the airline would liaise with relevant agencies to ensure the suspension order was lifted soon.

The Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS), on Tuesday, quizzed the Managing Director of the airline, Mr Kinfe Kahs-saye, for allegedly failing to pay company taxes amounting to N4.7 billion.
Chairman of the airline, Mr Jimoh Ibrahim, in a text message, said Air Nigeria was not indebted to the government on current taxes since the acquisition of the airline, saying that the debt was incurred during the time of Sir Richard Branson.

I PAID A BRIBE ENDORSE DIEZANI ALLISON-MADUEKE : THE BEST NIGERIAN PETROLEUM MINISTER EVER!

images_Diezani_Alison_Madueke_278573854The Nigerian petroleum sector has never had such a verifiable result oriented administration as that witnessed under the present minister – Mrs. Diezani Allision Madueke. This is despite the historical challenges of corruption, bureaucracy, ineptness, etc that has plagued the industry since after the oil boom period of the mid 70's to which no previous petroleum minister has achieved the monumental strides for the good of the industry and the Nigerian economy as Mrs. Diezani Allison Madueke has so far achieved positively impacting on immediate, short, mid, and long term outcomes.
Following the submission of the Lawan Farouk Committee Report,  which on its own has become plagued with controversy because of reported omissions and all what not, there have been plans by sinister groups to abort the on-going positive transformation of the Petroleum industry under Mrs. Allison Madueke by working to see that these positive strides are halted by unstansiated witch-hunt.
We at I PAID A BRIBE NAIJA, say “No” to this wicked, biased, sectionalist, and anti-female plot.  We hinge our endorsement of Mrs. Allison Madueke purely and strictly on facts on the ground rather than sentiments. We hinge our endorsement based on our concern and desire that the giant strides (hitherto quiet) made by Mrs. Allison Madueke (as Petroleum Minister) should not be hijacked again by anti-development forces masquerading in various guises to witch hunt, which throws our nation back into what can only be described as a “Yo-yo” development model.
In our characteristic objective manner, I PAID A BRIBE NAIJA, lists her achievements as Petroleum Minister, a feat which we dare say no previous petroleum minister in Nigeria has ever come near!

Fearless Support of Transparency & Anti-Corruption

images_Diezani_Alison_Madueke_278573854

Following the recent exposure of the oil subsidy cabal/mafia she fearlessly set up of a panel headed by the renowned anti-corruption crusader Mallam Nuhu Ribadu with membership peopled by persons of the calibre of the ex-NBA President and human rights crusader Olisa Agbakoba whose brief is to cleanse the underhand deals going on in the fuel importation process. This  would surely not endear her to people who have benefited for long from such fraudulent practices and clearly demonstrates her unequivocal, fearless, and transparent commitment to cleansing the augean stables of the petroleum industry. If she is allowed to continue, the petroleum industry will never be the same again. She must see the process through.

Products Supply Sustenance

Products Supply has been sustained nationwide through a combination of offshore processing, SWAP arrangements and increased domestic refining.

Effective End of Petrol Queues at Filling Stations

queueShe has continued to operate with a resolve akin to a missionary zeal towards ensuring that the days of long queues to buy Petrol at filling-stations are gone forever as she succeeds bloodying the nose of fuel ‘black-marketers’ anytime they rear their ugly heads. All whom are honest to themselves will admit that the long queues that characterised our filling stations years ago has become history!

Determination to Expand Current Refining Capacity With New Refineries

11Worthy of note, also, is that in addition to her resolve to see that Nigeria’s moribund refineries are up and working she has outlined plans to build three new brand new refineries in Bayelsa, Kogi and Lagos States

Declaration of a 12-month Emergency Plan on Supply of Gas to Power Plants
power-plant-2Concerned by the recent shortfall and challenges in supply of gas to thermal power stations in the country which has subsequently led to significant drop in power generation and supply, under Mrs. Allison-Madueke, the Federal Government has initiated some far reaching measures to address the existing challenges including the declaration of a 12-month emergency plan on supply of gas to power plants across the country as well as the restructuring of the Gas Aggregation Company of Nigeria Limited (GACN) to meet up with increasing demand for gas to power plant. The consequence is that this helps to curb the significant misalignment between power projects and gas supply sources and facilitate the effective rolling out of the National Integrated Power Projects (NIPP)

Establishment of pipeline infrastructure integrity

greenfieldThe detailed feasibility studies for the three Greenfield Refineries to be sited in Lagos, Kogi and Bayelsa have been concluded with preliminary report reviewed. The final report which has been submitted and can only be effectively implemented by the driver of change, Mrs. Diezani Allison-Madueke before it is hijacked and kept in the doldrums again!

Maintenance of National Crude Oil Production Above Budget Production Levels

Diezani2Within the period the nation’s crude oil production has been consistently maintained above the budgeted production level of 2.3 million barrels per day. This is direct fallout of the amnesty programme which has now allowed for the renewal of production activities in wells hitherto shut-in as a result of the Niger Delta crisis. Obviously the influence of her Niger Delta background cannot be overlooked in this particular regard.

Increasing the Nation’s Stock of Crude (In-land basins)

dezEffort at increasing the nation’s stock of crude is constantly & effectively receiving major attention under Mrs. Allison-Madueke with the escalation of oil exploration activities in the Inland Sedimentary Basins especially in the Chad Basin.
Already the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources are concluding arrangement for contract award for advanced seismic data acquisition and processing
In all, the seven in-land basins of Bida, Gongola, Sokoto, Anambra, Dahomey, Chad and Benue are billed to benefit from the programme.

Assignment of New Producing Blocks to Increase Crude & Gas Capacity

diezanigasUnder Diezani, the drive to increase the nation’s crude and gas reserve is not limited to the In-land Basin. As part of the effort at growing the capacity of the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company, NPDC, eight producing blocks have been assigned to the company. With special support by the President for NPDC’s operatorship of the blocks, the impact has been tremendous on the NPDC’s growth aspiration with current production now averaging 80,000 barrels per day.

Increased Gas supply for power generation and industrial use

grid_linesGas supply for power generation and industrial use has been sustained with supply outstripping demand both in the Western and Eastern axes. Available records indicate that the volume of gas available for power generation is unprecedented in the history of oil and gas in Nigeria.

Execution of Gas Supply Purchase Agreements

Diezanigas2Renewed efforts at ensuring relevant Gas Supply Purchase Agreements are being been executed in order to encourage upstream gas development.   As at the last count-Three Gas Supply & Purchase Agreements (GSPAs) have been signed among buyers, gas suppliers and Aggregator Company (Egbin / Shell / Chevron / PanOcean).

Contracts for Critical Pipeline Infrastructure for Gas Supply to Facilitate Generation of 2000MW Electricity

Contracts for the critical pipeline infrastructure for gas supply to Alaoji, Olorunsongo have been awarded with projects’ completion in 2012. Upon completion, this would lead to the availability of additional gas to generate extra 2000MW of electricity.

Expediting of Project Execution – OB3 Project

Approval has also been given to change the contracting strategy for OB3 gas pipeline, in order to expedite project execution.

Fast Tracking of the Brass LNG Project
Nigeria-LNG-CaseUnder the Diezani administration the Brass LNG project is being fast-tracked. Commercial bid evaluation for the Engineering Procurement and Construction contract is currently ongoing. The gas supply challenges have also been resolved.

Increased Investor Confidence in Gas Projects

There has generally been increased investor confidence in the Gas Revolution with additional gas utilization projects being pursued. These include:
2.75 metric tonnes per annum Dangote Fertilizer plant in Edo State.
2.4metric tonnes per annum Brass Fertilizer plant in Bayelsa State.
1.34 metric tonnes per annum Indorama Fertilizer and 1.2MTPA methanol plants at Eleme, Rivers State.
450, 000 tonnes per annum methanol plant at Onne, Rivers State.

Boost in Implementation of Critical Gas Projects

The implementation of the critical gas projects as encapsulated in the Gas Revolution was given a boost with the visit of the investors (Xenel of Saudi Arabia and Nagajurna of India) to the proposed site at Koko, Delta State for the 1.3 metric tonnes per annum Petrochemical and 1.3 MTPA fertilizer plants.

Undauntedly Pursuing Pro-poor Kerosene Availability Issues

The issue of kerosene availability has been tackled through NNPC direct distribution programme and she is reviewing the model to ensure that kerosene which is used by a large number of the less priviledge population is available in large quantise, at every nook and cranny, and at all times.

Nigerian Content Initiative

dezand_presjpgSigned into existence on April 22, 2010 by President Goodluck Jonathan, the Nigerian Content Act is designed to ensure that Nigeria achieves the much desired In-country capacity in the oil and gas industry. This would guarantee that a huge chunk of the estimated $20 billion spent annually by the industry is domiciled in the country for the benefit of Nigerians and indigenous Nigerian Companies and Service Providers.
The Nigerian Content Development Board, NCDMB, which has the Honourable Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Allison Madueke as Chairman of the Governing Council, the Board has accomplished the following:

  1. Ensured the escalation of the historic use of made-in-Nigeria pipelines by Exxon Mobil recently at its Edop – Idoho Offshore field ·
  2. Secured the placement of over 100 kilometers of pipelines orders in Nigeria’s only pipe manufacturing company, SCC Abuja
  3. Ensured the increase of in-country fabrication tonnage from 1,000,000 in 2009 to 1,200,000 currently ·
  4. Advanced talks with Jiangsu Yulong of China to establish 250,000 tons per annum LSAW Pipe mill in Nigeria
  5. Initiated the establishment of deep water port in a major upcoming project ·         Developed the Nigerian Oil and Gas Employment and Training Strategy, which has resulted in the absorption of over 5000 engineers, geologists, welders and other skill sets into the industry and formed the basis of a national skill database
  6. Nigerian Content activities have already generated over 30,000 direct and indirect jobs and will surpass 300,000 within the next four years
  7. NCDMB has designed and launched the Nigerian Content Joint Qualification Standards, an electronic platform for the Board’s implementation of the NOGIC Act, especially its capacity Building & Monitoring functions. ·

  10. Developed Original Equipment and Local Component Manufacturing Strategy to promote utilization of materials of Nigerian origin  in oil and gas industry and ensure the establishment of equipment manufacturing plants that will employ thousands

Regulatory Control and Monitoring

Considerable efforts have been made under the watch of Mrs. Alison-Madueke to ensure effective regulatory compliance in the Nigerian oil & Gas industry in the following areas:
  1. Enforcement of flare penalty of $3.50/1000scf to discourage flaring and encourage commercialization of the gas that is being flared. ·
  2. The launch of the “Offshore Safety Permit (OSP)” to account for the safety and competencies of personnel who embark on  swamp, offshore and deep offshore duties in line with the expectation of the Nigerian Content Policy.
  3. The initiation of this program has brought about the establishment offshore training centre within the Nigeria
  4. Completion and implementation of the scheme of the National Production and Monitoring system (MPMS) aimed at ensuring independent real time production monitoring, accurate production accounting and to enhance efficiency in Terminal Operations in the country

Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB)
PIBUnder Mrs. Diezani Allison Madueke’s watch, the process of passing the PIB into law (considered very long overdue) has witnessed sustained interaction with the National Assembly to ensure passage into law an oil reform legislation that will stand the test of time to the benefit of Nigeria, and give fair Return on Investment. At this rate, and under her able leadership, it can be expected that the bill will come to reality.
Diezani Alison-Madueke has held three significant positions in the Nigerian federal government. She was appointed Transport Minister in July 2007. By the time she was leaving the transport ministry, members of the industry sincerely wished she was left behind to conclude the giant strides she had started and put in place concerning transportation in the country – rail, roads, air, and maritime.
On December 23, 2008, she was named as Minister of Mines and Steel Development. After Vice-President Goodluck Jonathan became acting President in February 2010, he dissolved the cabinet on 17 March 2010, and swore in a new cabinet on 6 April 2010 with Alison-Madueke as Minister for Petroleum  Resources.
`
She has started again very well in a manner now becoming characteristic of her. Her great strides must not be truncated in the interest of the petroleum industry in particular and in the interest of the Nigerian economy, in general.
On the basis of these, we at I PAID A BRIBE NAIJA totally endorse her as the best petroleum minister Nigeria has ever had with the industry experiencing motion and movement and true change as has never been experienced before under any previous minister!

Alison-Madueke bags Howard University Centennial Achievement award
